A first Andaman trip that does not wear anyone out. This Andaman family tour package keeps the drives short, puts the boat rides in the morning while everyone is fresh, and leaves the afternoons open.

Children get glass-bottom boats and shallow water they can actually stand in. Adults get Radhanagar at sunset and a jail tour that is genuinely worth the time.

What makes this Andaman family tour package different

  • Boat rides scheduled early — when the sea is calmest and children are least likely to feel it.
  • Shallow, flagged swimming beaches — Corbyn Cove and Radhanagar both shelve gently.
  • Glass-bottom boat included — so nobody has to get in the water to see coral.
  • Only one island transfer — less packing and unpacking than a three-island route.
  • Private air-conditioned vehicle — with space for prams and beach bags.

Who this trip suits

Families with children of any age, and first-time visitors who want the highlights without a punishing schedule. Family or adjoining rooms are subject to availability, particularly on Havelock.

A note on seasons

October to May. The December and April school holidays both work, though December pricing runs high and books out early. February is the sweet spot if your dates are flexible – dry, calm seas and lighter crowds. Avoid June to September, when heavy rain and frequent ferry cancellations make it a poor first trip.

Tour Plan

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN PORT BLAIR | CORBYN COVE & CELLULAR JAIL SHOW

Touchdown: Pickup from Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ) and transfer to the hotel, under twenty minutes.

Corbyn Cove: The closest beach to town and the calmest water on South Andaman - safe enough for younger children to paddle.

Cellular Jail: The evening Light and Sound Show in the jail courtyard. Older children follow the story easily; it is narrated rather than acted.

  • Top Places to Cover: Corbyn Cove Beach, Cellular Jail, Light and Sound Show, Aberdeen Bazaar.
  • Importance of Each Place: The jail was built so that no prisoner could see or speak to another - the seven wings radiate from a single watchtower. It is the reason most Indians know the phrase Kala Pani.
  • Things to Know: Seating for the show is open-air; carry a light shawl for children between December and February. The jail closes in the afternoon before reopening for the show.

Meals: None | Overnight: Port Blair

Day 02 ROSS ISLAND & NORTH BAY | DEER, RUINS AND GLASS-BOTTOM BOATS

Ross Island: A short boat from Aberdeen Jetty. The ruins are overgrown and the deer are entirely used to people, which usually wins children over faster than the history does.

North Bay: Then across to the coral shelf for the glass-bottom boat - the reef sits close enough to the surface that nobody needs to swim to see it.

Afternoon: Back by mid-afternoon. If anyone wants to snorkel, North Bay is safer for first-timers than Elephant Beach.

  • Top Places to Cover: Ross Island, North Bay coral reef, the lighthouse, Samudrika Museum.
  • Importance of Each Place: Ross was the British capital of the islands until an earthquake in 1941 and the Japanese occupation ended it. The deer and peacocks are descendants of animals kept by the British residents.
  • Things to Know: The Ross Island landing is onto rock rather than a jetty - hold small children firmly. Life jackets are provided and should be worn on both crossings.

Meals: Breakfast | Overnight: Port Blair

Day 03 CRUISE TO HAVELOCK | RADHANAGAR BEACH AFTERNOON

The Crossing: Morning cruise from Haddo Wharf, around 90 minutes. Seats are assigned and the ferry is air-conditioned.

Check In and Eat: Havelock is compact - your hotel will be fifteen minutes from anywhere you need.

Radhanagar: The rest of the day here. The sand shelf runs shallow a long way out, which makes it one of the better swimming beaches in the islands for families.

  • Top Places to Cover: Radhanagar Beach, Govind Nagar, Havelock jetty.
  • Importance of Each Place: Radhanagar was named Asia best beach by TIME in 2004. The forest behind it is protected, which is why there is no development on the sand itself.
  • Things to Know: Swim inside the flagged zone only - lifeguards operate to posted hours and the currents outside the flags are genuine. There are no shops on the beach, so carry water and snacks.

Meals: Breakfast | Overnight: Havelock

Day 04 ELEPHANT BEACH | SNORKELLING AND RETURN TO PORT BLAIR

Elephant Beach: Speedboat out in the morning for snorkelling and, if you want them, the banana boat and glass-bottom rides that run off the sand. The reef is close in and the water is shallow.

Back Across: Afternoon ferry to Port Blair.

Evening: Free. Aberdeen Bazaar is walkable for shell craft and wood carving if you want something to take home.

  • Top Places to Cover: Elephant Beach, water sports area, Aberdeen Bazaar.
  • Importance of Each Place: Elephant Beach reef is one of the most accessible live coral shelves in India, which is why it carries the water sports operations rather than Radhanagar.
  • Things to Know: Water sports operators quote per ride and negotiate - agree prices before boarding. Coral cuts easily and children should be told not to stand on it.

Meals: Breakfast | Overnight: Port Blair

Day 05 DEPARTURE DAY | CHIDIYA TAPU OR IXZ TRANSFER

Last Morning: Breakfast and airport transfer.

If Your Flight Is Late: Chidiya Tapu is 25 km south, with mangrove-lined coast, good birdwatching and the best sunset viewpoint on the main island.

  • Top Places to Cover: Chidiya Tapu, Samudrika Museum, IXZ airport.
  • Things to Know: Reach the airport two hours before departure. Book departure flights for the afternoon rather than early morning.

Meals: Breakfast | Overnight: Journey ends
