Bir Billing Paragliding Trip 2 Nights 3 Days

Up to Billing: Drive to the launch site early, when the air is most stable. It is about 14 km and 3,000 ft above the landing zone.

The Flight: A tandem flight with a licensed pilot, landing at the Bir landing ground. Fifteen to thirty minutes depending on conditions.

Afternoon: Free. The Bir tea factory and Sherab Ling monastery are both close.

• Top Places to Cover: Billing launch site, Bir landing ground, Bir tea factory, Sherab Ling Monastery.
• Importance of Each Place: Bir Billing hosted the Paragliding World Cup in 2015, the first time it was held in India, which is what established its international reputation.
• Things to Know: Flying is grounded for wind, rain or low cloud at the pilot discretion. Where flying is not possible we attempt the following morning. Closed shoes are required for take-off; sandals are not permitted.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner | Overnight: Bir

Morning: Free, or a second flight at your own cost if conditions allow.

Departure: Board the overnight Volvo back to Delhi in the evening.

• Top Places to Cover: Bir village, Baijnath temple (optional).
• Things to Know: Baijnath Shiva temple, a 13th-century stone temple, is a worthwhile stop on the way to the bus if time allows.
