The Char Dham circuit takes ten to twelve days by road. By helicopter it takes three, because the aircraft crosses ridgelines the road has to go around.

This Char Dham helicopter package suits pilgrims who cannot manage the treks at Yamunotri and Kedarnath, or who simply do not have two weeks. It is the premium way to do the yatra and we have written the weather risk down honestly rather than burying it.

What makes this Char Dham helicopter package different

  • All four Dhams in three days — against ten to twelve by road.
  • Kedarnath trek removed entirely — the helipad is close to the temple, not 16 km below it.
  • Priority darshan assistance — at all four shrines.
  • Yatra registration processed — it is mandatory under Uttarakhand rules and requires ID for every pilgrim.
  • Honest on weather — flights are grounded regularly and no refund is due once the yatra has begun – stated upfront, not in the small print.

Who this trip suits

Older pilgrims, families with limited time, and anyone unable to manage the Yamunotri pony ride or the Kedarnath climb. Baggage is strictly limited for aircraft weight, usually 5 kg per person.

A note on seasons

The Dhams open around late April or early May on Akshaya Tritiya and close around Diwali – exact dates are announced each year by the temple committees. May, June, September and October fly most reliably. The July to August monsoon brings frequent grounding and the circuit is effectively unflyable on many days.

Tour Plan

Day 01 DEHRADUN TO YAMUNOTRI & GANGTORI | TWO DHAMS IN ONE DAY

First Light: Report at Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun at dawn. Weather briefings happen here and departure depends on them.

Yamunotri: Fly to Kharsali. The temple sits at about 3,290 m at the source of the Yamuna, and the last stretch is a short pony or palki ride. Surya Kund, a hot spring beside the temple, is where pilgrims cook rice in cloth as an offering.

Gangotri: Afternoon flight across to Harsil for Gangotri, where the Bhagirathi emerges and the temple stands on its bank at around 3,048 m. The original source, Gaumukh, is 18 km further up and reached only on foot.

  • Top Places to Cover: Yamunotri temple, Surya Kund, Kharsali, Gangotri temple, Harsil valley, Bhagirathi bank.
  • Importance of Each Place: Yamunotri and Gangotri are the sources of the two rivers that define north Indian civilisation. Gangotri temple was built by a Gorkha commander in the 18th century.
  • Things to Know: Baggage is limited to around 5 kg per person and enforced strictly for aircraft weight. Carry medicines on your person, not in hold baggage. Pony and palki charges at Yamunotri are paid locally.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Harsil

Day 02 KEDARNATH | THE HELIPAD BESIDE THE TEMPLE

Morning Darshan: Gangotri before departure, while the valley is still quiet.

To Kedarnath: Fly across to Kedarnath. The helipad sits close to the temple, which removes the 16 km Gaurikund trek entirely - the single biggest reason people choose this package.

The Temple: Kedarnath stands at 3,583 m against the Kedarnath dome, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the most remote of them. The stone structure survived the 2013 floods that destroyed much of the settlement around it.

Return: Flight down to Guptkashi or Sirsi for the night.

  • Top Places to Cover: Kedarnath temple, Bhairavnath shrine, Mandakini valley, Guptkashi.
  • Importance of Each Place: Kedarnath is believed to have been built by the Pandavas and revived by Adi Shankaracharya. The boulder that split the 2013 floodwater around the temple is still visible behind it.
  • Things to Know: The walk from helipad to temple is short but the altitude is felt. Move slowly. Anyone with cardiac or respiratory conditions should consult a doctor before booking.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Guptkashi

Day 03 BADRINATH & MANA VILLAGE | RETURN TO DEHRADUN

Badrinath: Fly to the last of the four, in the Alaknanda valley below Neelkanth peak at around 3,300 m. The temple facade is painted in bright colours quite unlike the other three.

Mana: Three kilometres on, the last village before the Tibet border, with Vyas Gufa where the Mahabharata is said to have been dictated, and Bhim Pul, a natural rock bridge over the Saraswati.

Return: Afternoon flight back to Dehradun. The yatra ends there.

  • Top Places to Cover: Badrinath temple, Tapt Kund, Mana village, Vyas Gufa, Bhim Pul, Saraswati river.
  • Importance of Each Place: Badrinath is among the holiest of the Vaishnavite shrines and one of the Char Dham of India as well as of Uttarakhand. Tapt Kund, the hot spring below the temple, is where pilgrims bathe before darshan.
  • Things to Know: Helicopter operations are entirely weather-dependent and governed by DGCA rules. Flights are frequently delayed, diverted or cancelled for visibility, and any additional night caused by weather is at the traveller cost.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight: Journey ends
