Dayara Bugyal Trek Package 4 Nights 5 Days

The Walk: About 4 km through oak and maple forest to a small lake at 9,000 ft. Four hours of steady climbing.

• Top Places to Cover: Barnala Tal, the oak forest, Barsu ridge.
• Importance of Each Place: Barnala Tal is a shallow forest lake used by shepherds moving flocks to the bugyal in summer.
• Things to Know: The shaded forest trail is cold in winter. Layer at rest stops.

The Climb: About 5 km to the meadow at 12,000 ft, where the tree line ends abruptly and grassland opens out for kilometres.

The View: Bandarpunch, Draupadi ka Danda and Srikanth on the horizon. Return to camp in the afternoon.

• Importance of Each Place: Bugyal is the Garhwali word for high-altitude meadow, and Dayara is among the largest, running roughly 28 sq km.
• Things to Know: The meadow is completely exposed - wind and sun are both stronger than they feel. Sunglasses essential in snow.

Down: Through the forest to Barsu, then the long drive back to Dehradun.
